DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR IMPORT OF VEHICLES For importing Japan used cars in Laos, following documents are required: β€’ Commercial invoice β€’ Title and Registration certificate β€’ Bill of Lading (original) β€’ Driving license β€’ Letter of Employment β€’ International Insurance Policy (green card) TAXATION β€’ Applicable duties and taxes are required to be paid to import used Japanese cars in Laos. β€’ The exemption is provided to foreign diplomats on the import of one vehicle in Laos. For availing the exemption, a letter for verification of the status of the importer must be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. β€’ The duties and taxes are applied depending upon the age, type, and engine used in the vehicle. **Conditions for importing vehicles in Laos** β€’ Motorcycles and jumbo vehicles with a maximum of 250 cc horsepower are allowed for import. β€’ Touk-to vehicles with a maximum of 650 cc horsepower are allowed for import. β€’ For pickups, jeep, sedan, buses, or large vehicles having a maximum of 12 wheels are allowed to import provided they meet the technical standards of the country. Modification of such vehicles is prohibited. β€’ The cars must not be more than 2.50 m in width. β€’ All vehicles that do not meet the technical standards as per the laws stated in Article 9 or rules by the Ministry of MCTPC are prohibited for registration by any employee or civil servant.
