Left-hand-drive used Japanese vehicles are permitted for import in the British Virgin Islands. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR IMPORT OF VEHICLES β€’ Vehicle Identification Number β€’ Type approval or certificate of conformity β€’ Bill of Lading and bill of sale β€’ Pro Forma Invoice β€’ Title and Registration certificate β€’ EPA Form (if required) β€’ Other documents may be needed PROCEDURE FOR IMPORTING USED VEHICLES FROM JAPAN β€’ The vehicle registration form to be filled by the importer. β€’ Now submit the vehicle registration form to the Licensing Officer who will verify the weight of the used Japanese vehicle. β€’ The registration form along with the ownership proof of the used vehicle from Japan to be submitted to the cashier for the registration of the license plates. β€’ The cashier then collects $10 as a registration fee and provides a receipt to the customer. If a license plate is required then a fee of $25 is charged. β€’ A copy of the registration form is provided to the importer. β€’ As per the curb weight of the vehicle, a fee is charged which can be inquired from the accounts officer β€’ Next, the licensing of Japan used vehicles is done. β€’ Now a copy of the registration form and receipt is required for the export of vehicles from Japan. TAXATION For importing used Japanese cars in the British Virgin Islands, a 20% tax is implied.
