Import Regulations in Falkland Islands for Japan Used Cars

• Contact with the DoA before importing the vehicle from Japan to help reduce the delay.
• The vehicle must be cleaned offshore as a biosecurity measure.
• If the vehicles to be imported in the Falkland Islands are not new, then they must be washed and cleaned thoroughly to make them look like new.
• The cleaning system used for cleaning the vehicles must be proven to meet the threshold contaminant level. The DoA should be contacted to know about the approved cleaning system in the Falkland Islands.
• A document should be obtained from the DoA about the approved cleaning system which would serve as evidence for biosecurity clearance and no further inspection might be needed.
• All the necessary documents should be provided to the DoA for the identification of the used Japanese vehicle.

If the vehicle fails to meet the necessary standards for cleanliness, then it will not get the biosecurity clearance. In such a case, further actions may be taken such as decontamination of the vehicle, to meet the biosecurity standards. If such negligence with the biosecurity standards persists, it may lead to the prosecution of them liable. Vehicles that can be imported in the Falkland Islands Motor vehicles: cars, buses, motorcycles, utility vehicles, trucks, motorized bicycles, forklifts, vans, golf carts, mobility scooters, and agricultural vehicles. Non-motorized vehicles and self-propelled vehicles: caravans, vessels, trailers, aircraft, and land yachts. Damaged vehicles: for repair or dismantling.
